A Developer's Journey to Hearing

Ömer's Story

Hello, I'm Ömer. I was born on January 26, 1992 in Karaman, and I'm currently working as a software developer at Ankara University. I'm also an ISO 27001 Lead Auditor—my job is to ensure data security and integrity. However, the biggest project of my life is the fight I'm giving for my own health.

My Medical Journey

I was born without a left ear (Microtia) and have facial paralysis on the left side of my face. Since 1996, I've undergone 19 surgeries at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. The musical notes tattooed below my ear represent the "Song of Life," and the hearing-impaired symbol next to it represents my silence...

Why This Project?

Because I don't have an inner ear formation, traditional treatments have been insufficient. My goal is to break 33 years of silence with a technological miracle: a Cochlear Implant or Brainstem Implant surgery.

The cost of this surgery is $20,000, and instead of just asking for this money, I wanted to raise it by developing this Pixel Project using my profession—software development—where you can also leave your mark. Every single pixel is a step toward the first sound I will hear.
